Circle Schedule

Week 1: Ancestral Healing & Cacao Circle

Your journey will begin with an Ancestral Healing & Cacao Circle as taught to me by my elder teacher Marita one Who Catches Lightning & Keeper of the Thunder Stone. In this circle we will embark on a journey of ancestral healing through indigenous practices of storytelling, breath, meditation, sound and reflection lead by the heart opening medicine of Cuatro Manos y Cinco Volcanes Hawai’ian Ceremonial Cacao.

Cacao is a medicine that helps us to remember and unearth the root of who we are. Guiding us on a journey of self-discovery and evolve, cacao is a medicine that enables us to rewrite the narratives that have held us back from showing up as our true, authentic selves. This circle is an invitation to journey back to self, to cultivate a deep, respectful and reciprocal relationship with plant and other kingdoms. When we cultivate a better relationship with these kingdoms, we can apply this wisdom to develop more fulfilling and improved relationships with ourselves and with other people and beings in our lives. It is from here we re-establish our connection to the ancestors and begin to heal our generational line.

For this circle we will be drinking Kūpuna – Kalo (also known as Taro), a special ancestors blend of cacao from Cuatro Manos y Cinco Volcanes Farms. Kalo is an ancient, sacred and native Hawai’ian plant, and an integral part of Hawai’ian culture and history. Kalo has the energy of creation and the four cardinal directions, it is a grounding and supportive alliance for ancestral healing work and when working with our Muladhara, Swadhisthana and Manipura chakras. Kalo allows us to connect to the island of Hawai’i, Pele and the creation story of the Hawai’ian people, inviting us to create a new home within and adopt new ways with its creation energy.

Join Vesna as we sit in circle together with the ancestors walking alongside us in this journey of self-discovery, growth and evolution.

Week 2: Learn to Build an Ancestral Altar

Ancestral altars are imperative when it comes to ancestral work as it is important to have a place where you can honour your ancestor spirits and guides. The ancestral altar should be a sacred space where you go to your ancestors to pray, consult them and give them offerings. In some traditions the ancestral altar was kept in a central location in the household where all members of the home could tend to their relationship with their ancestors. Having physical representations of our ancestor spirits is a practical way for grounding our practices into our reality and reminds us to do them!

There are many different names for ancestral altars and many different ways to make them. In this workshop you will be taught the basics of how to build, activate and tend to an ancestral altar, however you will also be encourage to explore for yourself and with the help of your ancestors, what your ancestral altar will look and feel like for you and how it will be used.

*For this workshop you will be required to supply the items needed to build your ancestral altar. In Week 1 you will be given a guide book containing a list of what you will need to bring for Week 2.

Week 3: Create an Ancestral Spirit Doll for Protection & Good Fortune

In the third circle of this series you will be guided to create a “corn dolly”, an ancestral spirit doll that can be placed on your ancestral altar or around you or your home as talisman for protection & good fortune. We will carefully craft these dolls and animate them into life with our intention, prayers, songs, stories and gratitude.

These spirit dolls will serve as a tangible reminder of your connection to your lineage and the strength you carry within you, knowing that no matter what challenges you face, you are always standing amongst your ancestors. Throughout the evening you will have an opportunity to be witnessed and to witness others in their process.

*Materials will be provided for this circle.

Week 4: Give Back to the Ancestors by Preparing an Ancestral Offering

Reciprocity in relationship is integral to an indigenous way of being. To complete our journey in this 4-week honouring ancestors container we will weave, with intention and in prayer, a beautiful herb and flower wreath in honouring our ancestors, in addition to sharing supper. We ask each participant to bring their favourite dish to share in circle.

*Materials for the wreath weaving will be provided.

Circle Expectations

This circle is a weaving of slavic traditions and indigenous practices as taught by One Who Catches Lightning & Keeper of the Thunder Stone, of which Vesna has been given permission to share. As such, the teachings in this circle are deeply rooted in indigenous ways of being and relationship. If you have not sat in an indigenous circle before it’s ok, Vesna will lead you through this cultural exchange. All that we ask is that you come as you are, and as our teacher says, we invite you to "leave your wisdom at the door” and allow your curiosity to lead.

In this circle we engage in an indigenous practice called witnessing. In each of these circles there will be an opportunity to be witnessed and to witness others. At this time we allow each participant to go through their own process and we witness that. We do not judge, give advice, coach or counsel others during this time.

The nature of this work can certainly trigger emotions and memories and recommend that you have the appropriate mental, physical, emotional and spiritual support you need. As always you are invited to these circles of your own free will and choice.

In honouring of the medicine and to maintain the integrity of this circle, please note that the practices, teachings and information shared in this circle are for personal use only and in no shape or form may they be taught to or shared with others outside of the circle.

Photography during the circle is not permitted unless permission has been granted.
